My journey as a cyclist

To give you some background on my journey. Let me start from the beginning and show you how i've grown .

The early start

My journey started in early 2020. I was a student that drank a bit too much alcohol and loved to party. My goal for 2020 was to party even harder.

Then Covid hit. I had nothing to do and (great timing) my relationship ended. So I had loads of time.

In that time I visited my parents more often, which lived around 1,5 hours from my student dorm. My dad was already a cyclist so I decided to start cycling between my parents and my dorm.

One of the first rides I did was a 90k ride. I underestimated that, got dehydrated and overtaken by old people on ebikes.

The Mont Ventoux

In that summer me and my parents went to the Mont Ventoux. When I cycled up that mountain it all clicked. This was my passion.

The constant struggle of climbing that giant and the views made me realise I won't be stopping anytime soon.

Growing as a cyclist

In the years that followed I started enjoying cycling even more. I rode the Amstel Gold Race, went to Flanders for the first time and got to experience riding in the Vosges.

In these years I also met a lot of exciting other people that inspired me to get more out of cycling. I started taking my camera on rides and gradually became a better cyclist.

Racing and building a community

In 2024 my goal became to ride Gran Fondos. An amateur UCI series that is held all over the world. These events inspired me to talk more about the journey I have had over all these years. The things I struggle with, the learnings of riding all these KMs and the amazing people I met.

Now my goal is clear. I want to give other people the same experiences I had when I started out. Giving them the tips and motivation to see cycling as it is: An amazing sport.

I hope you liked this little backstory. If you ever want to know more about my journey. Feel free to send me a message on Instagram or subscribe to my newsletter!
